NOW That’s What I Call Music lanzará el cuarto álbum de su serie Vault, con un lanzamiento que se centra en el año 1981.

Estas colecciones tratan de sencillos que están «menos recopilados», principalmente porque no fueron grandes éxitos, no entraron en las listas de éxitos o fueron grandes éxitos al otro lado del Atlántico, pero no en el Reino Unido. Los formatos se mantienen: de lujo y estándar, con 4 CD (82 pistas) y un set de 3 LP prensado en vinilo morado translúcido (45 pistas).

El CD 1 incluye «(We Don’t Need) This Fascist Groove Thang» de Heaven 17 (muy conocido, pero no un éxito), «Never Gonna Cry Again» del excelente, pero sin éxitos, primer álbum de Eurythmics, In The Garden, «The Jam Was Moving (de Kookoo )» de Debbie Harry, «Paint Me Down» del segundo álbum de Spandau Ballet, Diamond, un sencillo que tuvo un mal desempeño (N.° 30 en el Reino Unido) en comparación con su predecesor [«Chant No. 1 (I Don’t Need This Pressure On)» llegó al top 5], «Dancing With Myself» de Generation X y «Young Parisians» de Adam & The Ants.

 

La edición de lujo de 4 CD viene en un empaque de libro de tapa dura.

El segundo disco presenta artistas de rock como Bruce Springsteen (‘The River’), John Cougar Mellencamp (‘Ain’t Even Done With The Night’), Rush (‘Tom Sawyer’), Rainbow (‘Can’t Happen Here’) y Thin Lizzy (‘Trouble Boys’) y luego se adentra en una zona soul/R&B con temas de Sister Sledge, Commodores, Rick James, Chaka Khan y Evelyn “Champagne” King.

El CD 3 se vuelve un poco «indie» e incluye canciones de The Cure, New Order, The Creatures, Echo & The Bunnymen, The Teardrop Explodes, The Stranglers, The Clash y más.

El CD final de Vault ’81 presenta pistas «menos compiladas» de artistas como Pretenders , Pat Benetar, REO Speedwagon, Rick Springfield, Jim Steinman, Kim Carnes, Dolly Parton, Diana Ross y Christopher Cross.

Ahora Yearbook Vault ’81 se lanzará el 13 de junio de 2025.
