U2 ha lanzado una nueva versión de «Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah» de The Pogues.
Forma parte del próximo álbum tributo «20th Century Paddy: The Songs of Shane MacGowan«, que también incluye colaboraciones de Bruce Springsteen («A Rainy Night in Soho»), Tom Waits («Summer in Siam»), Primal Scream («A Pair of Brown Eyes») y muchos más.
El líder de The Pogues, Shane MacGowan, falleció el 30 de noviembre de 2023 a los 65 años.
«Shane MacGowan estaba lleno de contradicciones, y ahí radicaba su verdadera esencia», declaró The Edge, el guitarrista de U2, en un comunicado de prensa. «Podía ser preciso en lo importante y gloriosamente despreocupado en todo lo demás. Si eso suena a actuación, tal vez lo fuera. Pero como dijo Oscar Wilde: ‘Una máscara nos dice más que un rostro’».
«20th Century Paddy – The Songs Of Shane MacGowan» se publicará el 13 de noviembre. Al menos la mitad de las ganancias del álbum se destinarán a Dublin Simon Community, una organización que apoya a las personas sin hogar en Dublín.
